The department and the Dean will develop a list of three to five external reviewers. Two reviewers will be selected from this list, at least one will be at a similar department in another liberal arts college.
The department in consultation with the Dean will develop objectives for the reviewers’ visit.
The Dean will invite reviewers to participate and explain the process. Reviewers will be paid an honorarium and will have expenses covered.
The Dean, in consultation with the department, will make arrangements for a two-day on-campus visit and for appropriate materials from the department to be sent to the reviewers.
On-campus visits will include meetings with the Dean, the chair, the members of the department (either individually or in groups), students, the FRC, as well as classroom visits and a tour of appropriate facilities.
The reviewers will write a report to the Dean, department, and FRC. The reviewers may choose to write a single report or two separate reports. Their perspectives will be considered in the development of plans for department action.
