APPENDIX D
TIMELINE FOR FULL DEPARTMENT REVIEW
We anticipate that approximately three full department reviews will be conducted each year. An effort will be made to schedule departments with similar interests in the same year. The timeline for the reviews is as follows:
In the spring prior to the review year, the department, in consultation with the Dean, will make plans for the review and determine the information it will need to collect or have collected.
The department will work with the Dean to create a list of potential outside reviewers by fall break. The Dean will invite two reviewers to campus before Thanksgiving.
The department’s report will be submitted to the Dean of the College, the FRC, and the outside reviewers by the end of the fall semester.
The outside reviewers will visit early in the spring semester, and a report of their findings and observations is due by spring break.
The department will discuss both its own report and that of the outside reviewers with the FRC soon after spring break. The FRC will give the department a written report of its reactions to the review soon after the discussion takes place.
The department will draw up an action plan to address needs and goals that were identified in the review by the end of the spring semester.
