IV. FRINGE BENEFITS* AND SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH AND STUDY

*Because of the complexity of the benefit plans and the periodic change in coverage and carriers, faculty are directed to the full descriptions of each plan provided at the time of employment or to the most recently updated versions. Copies are also available in the Personnel Office. Visiting faculty may receive all or part of the College benefit package as determined at the time of appointment

A. Medical Insurance

Medical Group Insurance is available for all full-time faculty members. The College is self-insured for health insurance, and our current administrator is Cigna Health Care, Inc.

Dependent medical insurance may be purchased. The College provides those interested in purchasing dependent coverage the opportunity to pay the premiums through Section 125, Flex Benefit Program. Use of the flex benefit may allow you to pay the medical premium with pre-tax dollars resulting in a reduction of federal, state, and social security taxes.

Please notify the Personnel Office of any address or dependent status change that needs to be forwarded to Cigna Health Care, Inc. Upon termination of employment with the College, a faculty member's medical insurance will terminate effective the last day of the month after termination. Continuation of group health benefits is available under COBRA federal law.  If a retiree elects to continue on the College health plan and drops the coverage for any reason, (or does not elect to participate during the retirement transition) s/he cannot pick the health coverage up at a later date.
