Pearl Buck and Racism

Pearl Buck did a great amount of work towards the efforts to end racism.  Here are a list of some of the important things she did:


 




-Talked with such people as Walter White, secretary of the NAACP, Alain Locke, and Paul Robeson
-Wrote a book with Eslanda Robeson, Paul's wife, entitled "American Argument,"which discussed the issues of racism.
-Worked with Eleanor Roosevelt, who was greatly involved with equal rights for all.
-Was a member of the NAACP
-Was on the Board of Trustees at Howard University
-Gave a very powerful commencement speech at Howard University in 1942.
-Wrote an essay entitled"On The Cultivation of a Young Genius"in 1937, expressing the importance of the role of youth in America.
