Prospective Students

If you are interested in international affairs and want to learn more about emerging global issues and players, then this major may be for you. The program emphasizes a political, economic, and cultural understanding of the world.  In addition to engaging in classroom debate, group work, and simulations, students can participate in the award-winning Model United Nations team and represent the College in New York in the spring.  Further, the major allows each student to develop a special focus area within the major.  Alongside taking required core courses, the student identifies a focus area based on his/her unique area of interest.  Examples include diplomacy, human rights, peace and conflict resolution, and sustainable development.

GS graduates are equipped for positions in a whole variety of fields that require knowledge of global trends, certain technical expertise, as well as a skills base needed to solve problems and work with others.  Many of our students also go on to graduate and law school programs and work in a broad range of fields on the world stage.

With the Global Studies major, you gain a broad understanding of the world, engage in language and diplomacy training, and develop your own specialization – all of which prepare you well for graduate and law schools, diverse career paths, and citizenship in the 21st century.
