Guidelines for proficiency jury

Music majors in History or Theory and Music Concentrators

Proficiency in one performing medium must be demonstrated by taking a jury at least once after declaration of the major or concentration. Repertoire guidelines are the same as those for performance majors. Proficiency is defined by the capability to learn and perform works of an intermediate technical level, while demonstrating musical understanding of each work. Memorization is not required for proficiency juries.

Please see the repertoire suggestions below for proficiency in piano and voice; see the department chair for repertoire for other instruments. Substitution of other repertoire is at the discretion of the instructor.
