How to Obtain Spanish Characters on a PC in POWER POINT and Other Applications

If you are not working in WORD, you can obtain the Spanish characters using the following keystrokes.  These are the strokes to use if you are working in Power Point or Excel, for example, although they will work in any application.  Be sure that the "Number Lock" function is on (sometimes a light will be lit when it is), and also that you use the numeric keypad to type the numbers:

á [ALT + 0225]
é [ALT + 0233]
í [ALT + 0237]
ó [ALT + 0243]
ú [ALT + 0250]
ñ [ALT + 0241]
¿ [ALT + 0191]
  ¡   [ALT + 0161]
ü [ALT + 0252]
   

An alternative set of keypad strokes for obtaining the Spanish characters on a PC in applications other than Microsoft Word is as follows. Be sure that the "Number Lock" function is on (sometimes a light will be lit when it is), and also that you use the numeric keypad to type the numbers:
