Course Description |
Spanish 102, the second semester
of elementary Spanish, offers the student practice in pronunciation, comprehension,
speaking, writing and reading Spanish. After a few weeks of reviewing the most basic
Spanish grammar, the course then continues to present fundamental grammar and vocabulary
systematically, roughly at the rate of one chapter every three classes. Video driven, the
course uses the Destinos program of integrated videos, audio tapes, text and
workbook exercises.
This is a four credit course, with four class meetings per week. |
Course Goals |
1. |
To help the student develop
mastery of fundamental grammar concepts and basic vocabulary in
a way that encourages her to strive for good pronunciation, and
permits her to communicate in simple Spanish in the present, past
and future tenses, on topics that include school life, health, family,
food and personality.
|
2. |
To help the student develop
or heighten an appreciation and respect for the people, history,
and cultural diversity of the Hispanic world, through brief, simple
cultural readings in Spanish and some songs from the Hispanic world.
|
3. |
To acquaint the student with, or to deepen
her knowledge of, the geography of the Hispanic world and the different regions where
Spanish is spoken. |
