May Term
The American Culture Program offers a unique
early summer study opportunity each May-June. Topics vary from "In the
Footsteps of Lewis and Clark," "Americans In Paris," to "Fields of
Dreams." Program offers two courses for a total of 6 credits. It includes
an intense week-long seminar before hitting the road for 3-4 weeks.
Summer 2005: "Narratives of Public History: Bermuda, St. Mary’s City, &Jamestown"
Professors Heidi Kunz and Julio Rodriguez will lead a joint American Culture and international study seminar, “Narratives of Public History: Bermuda, St. Mary’s City, Jamestown,” which will investigate public history and award six credit hours. The group will explore areas in Virginia, Maryland, and Bermuda, which use museums and historic sites to present British colonization of the Atlantic world in different ways. In Bermuda, Randolph-Macon has been invited to join the University of Bristol (U.K.) Archaeological Field School for a three-day dig and students will give presentations at the Bermuda Station for Research.
