Math 250 - Calculus III

Homework

Textbook: Calculus, Eighth Edition by Larson, Hostetler, Edwards

Homework assignments are due at the beginning of class on the due date.

(CAS) means you need to use a computational software (Mathematica or DERIVE)  in your solution and include the print-out in your homework.

NOTES:
1.
Answers to odd-numbered problems can be found at the back of the book.

                    2. Solutions to odd-numbered problems can be found at the Ethyl Center BUT you are NOT allowed to take the solution manual out of the Ethyl Center. There are comfy couches, chairs, and tables available at the Ethyl Center as well as candy! So stay there when you need the solutions manual!

Section Project  (page 809)

Along with the section project,  also include the distance between a point and a line (which is explained in the book). Describe in your own words the idea behind the formula and use the formula to solve problem 98 in section 11.5.

Submit a well written explanation of your work. Title your work "Section Project" and have two sections:  1. Distance between a point and a line  2. Distance between two skew lines.

Grade  Homework 11:  Each problem is 2 points, giving a max of 24 for the homework.  If the solution is right, the question gets 2 points, if it is partly right it is 1 point, and if it is not right at all but there is some effort it is 0.5 points. If there is a small computational error, it is  1.5 points. Note that you have to check the solution, NOT just the final answer!
